Left Hand Twill

As American mills moved towards faster production after World War II, Japan preserved traditional shuttle-loom weaving. In 1973, Kurabo introduced KD-8, Japan's first domestically produced denim fabric. Alongside this tradition, rope dyeing gave Japanese denim its distinctive indigo fades and character over time.
At the heart of our Sumo Selvedge Denim is 23 oz Japanese denim from Kaihara Corporation, Japan. Its thick yarns and left-hand twill weave create a dense, substantial character, while the deep indigo shade and prominent red selvedge line make it unmistakably distinctive.

The heavyweight denim holds its shape and stands firm when new, gradually softening with wear as deep indigo fades and unique creases develop over time.
