Description
Black Oiled Roughout (BORO) is our interpretation of a classic roughout leather built for hard wear, easy maintenance, and exceptional character.
Crafted from 1.8–2.0mm full-grain water buffalo leather, BORO begins as a premium semi-aniline hide before being turned flesh-side out. The reverse side is then hand-finished with a blend of oils and waxes, creating a rich black surface with a unique smooth-yet-nappy texture that feels substantial in hand while retaining the rugged appeal roughout leather is known for.
Unlike heavily corrected or synthetic-looking leathers, BORO is designed to evolve. As the leather flexes, creases, and encounters the demands of everyday wear, the oils and waxes on the surface will gradually wear back, revealing more of the natural roughout texture hidden beneath. The result is a leather that becomes increasingly individual over time, developing depth, character, and a lived-in appearance unique to its owner.
The leather is struck through, meaning the hide is dyed completely through its thickness. This ensures a deep jet-black appearance both inside and out, reducing the visibility of lighter-colored fibers or exposed edges during wear.
Built to take a beating yet easy to maintain, Black Oiled Roughout offers the durability of roughout construction with a distinctive aging journey that only improves with time.

Stitching Upper Panels Together with Uttermost Precision & Detailing.
Insole, the backbone of the boots/shoes is made from thickest vegetable tanned Leather.
Upper is stretched & nailed to leather insole to mould the upper into a boot/shoe shape.
Leather welt is stitched though the upper into the leather insole for durability.
Steel shank is added & cavity is filled with cork footbed which shapes to your feet.
A Natural nitrile rubber outsole is first cemented and then hand stitched to the welt.
Stacked leather layers & rubber heel is nailed to the boot/shoe from inside & outside.
